Gukurahundi - An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor (2013)

HAPPY FUCKING NEW YEAR!!! I was kinda hoping the world would blow up when the clock struck midnight, but no luck, as I am here posting in 2014. Well, that being said, I can at least start 2014 with some brutal shit from Guckurahundi. Their new EP An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor is more death than doom metal, but if you listen to the lyrics you will see why I think it is appropriate to post here.
Guckurahundi (goo-koo-ra-hun-dee) a blackened death metal band with African roots was formed in late 2012. The band first started as a studio project by Nielsen (ex Stigmata Down) and Colluci (Danny Tanner), but slowly progressed into the band it is today. They then got together with Manicidic Records and began to work on an EP for Spring 2013 release. The EP An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor was recorded and produced by the band and released as a limited edition digipack and digital download. Since the albums release, Gukurahundi have slowly gained momentum in the underground scene. The band is currently working on material for their first full length debut and promises the album to be a step forward from the EP. A few months since development, Gukurahundi has made their mark in the underground scene and continues to do so.
A cultural mix of death and black metal with a melodic and atmospheric landscapes. Gukurahundi brings an array of styles and generes into their music and experiments with many different aspects of rock and metal. From crazy blastbeats to down tempo piano bridges the band explores the world of metal and is not afraid to delve into heavy ass shit, as well as morbid tranquility. For fans of Nagflar, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Severe Torture, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Nile and Dark Fortress, this should be right up your alley.

Gukurahundi's debut EP is free for download on their bandcamp, so check em' out and be on the lookout for their debut LP which should be coming out sometime in 2014. I will keep you posted on that!!!

Witchtrap - Sorceress Bitch

Well, its almost summer. Which reminds me, this band is from Columbia. And much like the coming months, they will make your chest resonate with the thundering beats of your heart, though it isn't because of your dorky eyes catching the few glimpses of above-knee female flesh you get annually, but rather because of their sick and poorly-written tales of human sacrifice and bloody black magic!!!!!!

If you like Venom, you'll get a kick out of this.

Belphegor - Blutsabbath

Austrian "Blackened Death Metal". Or so I'm told. I hear a bit of Gorgoroth, and some of the Polish BM acts in this. So its more just like, not True but rather what BM has come to these days. Not a bad thing, just a far shot from what it used to be. Christ, just look at Behemoth.

Their logo reminds me way too much of Mayhem. Get some originality guys, jeez.

On a serious note, I've finally finished relocating to Tokyo after being displaced for over a month due to the tsunami, so I should be back on this blog often enough, posting stuff that people refuse to comment on thus leading me to post more shit that no one cares about because you selfish shits won't tell me what you think.

Fuck you, I hope you're happy.

Il Sangue - Elegia 4: …In Still Desolation

This is some really, really, really caustic music. Black Metal, but, like, way more wretched and vile. Did you ever see that awesome space movie Event Horizon? You know that seen when they descramble the video they found and its this scene of people pooping guts and shoving their fists and arms down other peoples throats and what not? And then that guy says "Ich liebe dich" or whatever it might have been latin while showing you his eyeballs that he ripped out of his head? This would be an awesome soundtrack to a feature length version of that…

...Or at least the parts that aren't really pretty acoustic interludes. Anyway, I think Ulver would be proud of these guys - terrible sound quality, shredded vocals, chainsaws, and mexican mariachi all figure into this album.

Speaking of movies, I heard a rumor they're making a sequel to Bad Santa, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Vestiges - The Descent of Man (2010)

"Vestiges formed in January of 2010 as a two-piece band. Influenced by hardcore, black metal, crust, screamo, and post-rock, the band set out to incorporate elements of each genre to articulate their message both musically and lyrically. A third member was added to the band shortly before entering the studio to record The Descent Of Man. The band plans to release two more albums, an EP and a LP, in order to complete their narrative. The band and a filmmaker are currently in the process of producing a film to visually capture the theme of The Descent Of Man.

The Descent Of Man follows the creation, the evolution, and the eventual annihilation of mankind. Today, we find ourselves hoping to reverse the damage that we have done and struggling to sustain what little earth we have yet to rape repeatedly. We validate this existence with stories that justify our behavior and our role in the natural world. The promise of salvation in a land we have yet to see has clouded our judgment in a land that is right before our eyes. Industrialization, militarization, overpopulation, theism, specieism, and nihilism are regarded as evolution and progress. Our greed and ignorance have been celebrated and our past has been forgotten. We were meant to be a part of nature. We were not meant to conquer nature. We were given life and we have done everything in our power to bring death upon everything in our path, including ourselves. There will be horrifying consequences for what we have done."

Shitestrom- Lake Erie Blasphemy (2010) Sampler

Shitestrom is Black Metal from Northwest PA and here is there new short two song sampler.

"Shitestrom (from Erie, PA) sound like they've been vacationing overseas in the grimmest of locals. Summoning influence from Watain, Leviathan, Dissection, Xasthur, and early Gorgoroth, prepare for relentless blasting drums (along with a traditionally thin guitar tone) and harsh distorted vocals that are often a dead wringer for Wrest of Leviathan. All in all, expect a shit storm of rock solid unholy black metal which will undoubtedly "bludgeon your children's cunts with the hammer of Satan." Looking forward to hearing more from these disgusting reprobates." - Taken from the best metal blog on the net.

Miserere Luminis - Miserere Luminis [2009]

Alright, So this is if you enjoyed that Gris post I did awhile back.

This cd is a pretty cool idea is takes two great depressive black metal bands(Gris and Sombres Forets) and then collaborate to write a record.

It is slow and churning depressive music. The best part is that you can actually hear the bass, for the most part.

This is one of those mandatory cd's if you like to sit in your room and feel bad about yourself.

SAD.
