Alright, So this is if you enjoyed that Gris post I did awhile back.

This cd is a pretty cool idea is takes two great depressive black metal bands(Gris and Sombres Forets) and then collaborate to write a record.


It is slow and churning depressive music. The best part is that you can actually hear the bass, for the most part.


This is one of those mandatory cd's if you like to sit in your room and feel bad about yourself.

Decaying Loaf- Discophagia

Viking Barbarian Fantasy Power metal band inspired by Brian Jacques from Erie, PA. Think of Amon Amarth meets Alestrom meets Cannibal Corpse meets Finntroll meets Cradle of Filth meets Into Eternity meets Arsis meets Iron Maiden.
Or think that every melodic metal band got together and fucked a Badger wearing armor and it gave birth this hideous creation.
The Discophagia Includes the Re-release of The Rebirth of Satan and Faded Screams of the Fucked.
Its not the complete discography because it doesnt inlude the Stroke My Fucking Loaf Demo or Cunt Blood Demo, but it has all there shit from CHK records.

Arsis- Starve for the Devil (2010)

I was one of those kids that hyped up Celebration of Guilt way to much a few years ago, was pretty disappointed with there releases afterwards, but this has some redeeming qualities. Melodic Tech Death metal at its absoloute best. The one major gripe I have is the song "Forced to Rock". sounds like a Tenacious D song. Whatever, listen to it a few times and put COG back on.

Slaughterbox / Killgasm - Crippler / The Loss of Human Dignity (2009)

Okay slaughterbox and Killgasm split, kinda a weird combo, but it works and it works well.

Slaughterbox is a technical death metal band with an emphasis on technical but retains a groove as well, pretty unique.

Killgasm are a death black grind band with over the top lyrics and song titles, if you can't tell from the cover artwork, ha. Lightning Swords of Death and Valdur - Split (2008)

Okay so another Lightning Swords of Death post, this is infinitely better than their full length, better recording, song writing, the whole nine. Its like thrash black metal with some doomish crushingly heavy parts, very good.

then theres VALDUR from Mammoth Lakes Cali, who I literally cannot get enough of, its just really epically writen black metal with long songs that dont get boring. def. one of my more favorite splits. RECOMMENDEDDD.

Gris - Il Était une Forêt... (2007)

This is the saddest cd youll ever listen too, This band is what used to be Niflhiem, the dudes that wrote that little gem "true depressive pagan black metal". I ussually only listen to this when im in a relitively good mood and sober, other wise i would jump off of a cliff after hearing this devastatingly depressing release. Recommended.

Thrash black metal from California. Recently signed to Metal Blade, and they deserve it, because they are quite good. They are replaced the shining in the latest behemoth tour, I have a feeling that this band is going to blow the fuck up, partly because of the evangelia amerika tour.

Arkhon Infaustus is Blackened Death Metal or Deathened Black Metal, whatever you want to call it, it slays. Imagine the brutalness of behemoth or belphegor and the mid paced segments of Deathspell Omega, with violent head banging riffs. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Caïna - Temporary Antennae 2008

Total Avant-Garde, Progressive, One Man, Experimental "post" Black Metal. Its really a different take on writing black metal music. Its pretty good, It took me a few spins to get into this. I would say its worth checking out, Im not guaranteen' that you'll like it, but its something that grew on me, and maybe it will grow on you. Also this dude is rumored to be in Krieg now, and they recently released a split with them, and I cant find it anywhere tho. fuck off.
