Gukurahundi - An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor (2013)

      HAPPY FUCKING NEW YEAR!!! I was kinda hoping the world would blow up when the clock struck midnight, but no luck, as I am here posting in 2014. Well, that being said, I can at least start 2014 with some brutal shit from Guckurahundi. Their new EP An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor is more death than doom metal, but if you listen to the lyrics you will see why I think it is appropriate to post here.
     Guckurahundi (goo-koo-ra-hun-dee) a blackened death metal band with African roots was formed in late 2012. The band first started as a studio project by Nielsen (ex Stigmata Down) and Colluci (Danny Tanner), but slowly progressed into the band it is today. They then got together with Manicidic Records and began to work on an EP for Spring 2013 release. The EP An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor was recorded and produced by the band and released as a limited edition digipack and digital download. Since the albums release, Gukurahundi have slowly gained momentum in the underground scene. The band is currently working on material for their first full length debut and promises the album to be a step forward from the EP. A few months since development, Gukurahundi has made their mark in the underground scene and continues to do so.
      A cultural mix of death and black metal with a melodic and atmospheric landscapes. Gukurahundi brings an array of styles and generes into their music and experiments with many different aspects of rock and metal. From crazy blastbeats to down tempo piano bridges the band explores the world of metal and is not afraid to delve into heavy ass shit, as well as morbid tranquility. For fans of Nagflar, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Severe Torture, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Nile and Dark Fortress, this should be right up your alley.

Slaughterbox / Killgasm - Crippler / The Loss of Human Dignity (2009)

Okay slaughterbox and Killgasm split, kinda a weird combo, but it works and it works well.

Slaughterbox is a technical death metal band with an emphasis on technical but retains a groove as well, pretty unique.

Killgasm are a death black grind band with over the top lyrics and song titles, if you can't tell from the cover artwork, ha. Lightning Swords of Death and Valdur - Split (2008)

Okay so another Lightning Swords of Death post, this is infinitely better than their full length, better recording, song writing, the whole nine. Its like thrash black metal with some doomish crushingly heavy parts, very good.

then theres VALDUR from Mammoth Lakes Cali, who I literally cannot get enough of, its just really epically writen black metal with long songs that dont get boring. def. one of my more favorite splits. RECOMMENDEDDD.

Lightning Swords of Death - The Golden Plague (2007)

Thrash black metal from California. Recently signed to Metal Blade, and they deserve it, because they are quite good. They are replaced the shining in the latest behemoth tour, I have a feeling that this band is going to blow the fuck up, partly because of the evangelia amerika tour.
